What a great story for this Veteran's Day

"Dale Hardie was always an adventurer. After serving in the Air Force in Guam and Japan after World War II, he joined the merchant marine and spent the next 20 years sailing the high seas.

But eventually, Hardie fell on hard times. Just two months ago, he was squatting in an abandoned trailer in a dilapidated trailer park in Lake Ronkonkoma. Then he was evicted by the owner.

But thanks to civic leaders and government officials who learned of Hardie's plight from a Newsday article on the eviction, he is safe and warm in a homeless shelter for veterans in Northport. And thanks to a Newsday reader, Hardie just learned he has $11,000 in old unclaimed accounts held by the state comptroller's office".

Wow, that is great. Veterans should all be taken good care of and should not be left homeless. They are the country's major assets because they fought for the country when they still could then and now that they are old and can no longer fend for themselves, it's about time America fend for them.

Wow what a great ending. I am sure that the money wont get him to far but at least on his feet. It is good that someone took notice and helped him get into a shelter and what not. I don't think that people realize what the Military has done for us civilans to keep us safe.

That's really nice. People who does good are always rewarded. I believe in that credo. It's like good Kharma. I just hope he would enjoy those things with his family. I really am not sure, but does he have a family? A wife or kids at least or is he an old bachelor? I can't imagine my kids leaving me to live on my own.
