I am posting here some early hurrricane Wilma information:

Believe it or not, the sun will shine over all of FLorida later today, but:

*2/3 of Florida is directly affected, huge eye of storm, covering the west AND east coast at same time.

*The BACK side of eye actually worse tw/ Wilma than the front. East coast getting winds that are 50 mph STRONGER than west coast where it made landfall!

*Back side is a constant force this time vs front side that was "marginal" and was somewhat on & off.

*The strongest back side that any reporters have been in, according to CNN Anderson Cooper. Anderson is on Marco Island.

*Key West, w/ estimated 90% of people DID NOT evacuate is cut in 1/2 by flooding so far. No way for Key West people to leave! Why did they stay? I heard that many are hardworking people w/ 2-3 jobs to cover the cost of living, "cost of living in paradise" but a reporter observed, "Cost of WORKING in paradise!". Also, many residents are tough, brave souls.

*Everglade City is experiencing the most severe flooding since hurricane Donna in 1960!

*The everglades DID NOT slow Wilma down like land normally does. It is a swamp, not trees, many bodies of water, etc. Wilma did not even blink at the everglades.

*All of the Keys w/o power

*Storm surge: updates to come, expected at Marco Island and many other places. SUrge can be more damaging than the winds!

*Gator alley getting hammered.

*I death so far of a man in Coral Springs who was hit by a tree, I believe wil outdoors during the eye passing......eye of Wilma very deceptive! She blinks and then back harder than before!

More to come!!!

Info I am getting from Florida is that they was much broad area damage but not extreme. Meaining, vegetation and some exterior damage. Probably the biggest problem is no electricity for many.

Animals: I believe, for the most part, people are w/ there pets. I hope and expect that means little or no rescuing needed.

Do you have any other info?
