I just had my daily serving of fruits and vegetables. I had some regular potato chips dipped in ketchup. Does anyone else rationalize like this to make themselves feel better about their diet?

No, but it made me smile because I've *wanted* to call chocolate beans a legume and ice cream a great dairy serving. :jump: I've never heard of dipping chips into ketchup, though.

Im horrible. I haven't had fruit in a very long time. I do need to add more fruits in. I think im a carbo junkie and protein freak. The problem though is i never can eat them fast enough. I usually throw out the fruit and veggies because i dont eat it fast enough. Now with the Ecoli scare on lefty greens ive cut back even more now.

lol. Me, either. But then I figured it would probably be like putting ketchup on home frieds or french fries, only not the potatoes wouldn't be hot. And that made me think of french fries with gravy. Mmmm.

My boys dip their chips in ketchup. They'd dip everything in ketchup if they could. I use real organic ketchup - so it is a lot closer to a real vegetable than Heinz or something like that.

I think I can rationalize anything into a "healthy meal". My favorite lately has been frozen pumpkin custard with pie crust crumbles. fruit, dairy, and bread, right? :)

 Hehe Sure! Works for me! I suppose that with pumpkin being like squash, it's very healthy indeed!

We eat fruits and vegetables everyday, but really - it's more expensive and less convenient to eat healthy foods then it is eating junk food.
As you all know - fast food is handy and cheap. And especially where I live, fresh fruits and vegetables are expensive in the winter - more affordable in summer, but still hard to find in quantity.

I don't find it hard to work in vegetables, but then again I'm vegetarian. If I have had an unhealthy lunch, I'll go home and make a whole bag of frozen vegetables and maybe some rice.

It's very hard for me to afford fruits and veggies on a regular basis, so I try to rationalize by drinking lots and lots and lots of tea . . . which is plant matter . . . .

Some sources of vegetables are very affordable. Store-brand frozen veggies are chock full of nutrients and not expensive. I'll go to Aldi sometimes and stock up.

There's an Aldi close to me but I so rarely take the time to go there. I think
you're right and that frozen veggies, even the generic labels, are the second
best choice if fresh are too expensive.

Aldi is actually quite nice on reducing costs if you are trying to eat healthy. Their frozen vegetable blends range from basic to fancy (like nice stir-fry mixes).
