While I agree with this, I have to wonder if the Replicans had won the House and possibly the Senate if he would still be stepping down.

It was just this past weekend that Bush was praising Rumsfeld and Cheney.

Bush always seems to be out of the loop, doesn't he?

Remember how well he was praising Brown, the old director of FEMA, just before the guy was replaced?

Bush, like most other managers in business, cannot be trusted. However, I think Rummy just got tired of the workload and quit.

As Seinfeld would say, "Oh, that's a shame". How surprising that Bush nominated yet another Texan, Robert Gates.

It is suspicious that Rumsfeld stepped down immediately after the Dems won the House. Maybe he's afraid of pending investigations? Or he just doesn't work well without carte blanche? Oh wait a minute - he doesn't work well with it either.

Can't say I'll miss his smug, contempuous puss or that condescending tone.

Even though I think it was way past time for him to go, I really don't think he resigned. I think he was made to make this decision because of the loses Tuesday night. So in the end I think he became the fall guy that had to leave and that Bush did not have any chose in the matter. After the elections he had to do something. I think this should have been done awhile back though.

Personally i think he stay in the position longer then he should have. It was obvious for a long time by the feedback he was not effective in the role. Generals and other military people spoke out and got censored. With the latest out cry in the military paper stating he is not an effective leader im not surprised this happened. I think it should have been sooner but as you can see this current administration has this blind arrogancance and confidence that has lead us into this war. We need to stop believing that Bush knows whats right because we have been lead astray.

I agree, I don't think he willingly resigned either, Bush was trying to save face. A little too late in my opinion. I think the whole administration needs to go.

Not only is he a fellow Texan, but he is one of daddy Bush's old cronies, I am sure he told jr what to do. Bush can't wipe his nose without being told how.
