Let's Roll is currently focused on one immediate and vital project, the rescue of lost and abandoned animals still roaming the streets and locked in houses in New Orleans.

There is URGENT NEED to rescue these pets, and there are only a few more weeks left before the effort will be ended as the city begins to re-populate and the restoration process begins. At that point, the heroic volunteers will no longer have safe or ample access to the city streets where they are now able to drive through in search of stray pets.

We are supporting the efforts of the Animal Rescue New Orleans organization headed by Jane Garrison. This is a highly effective, efficient, and well-organized group. Because of that, we know that every donation be it, cash, supplies, time or services will be utilized to their maximum benefit.

The following is a list of opportunites for you to help. There is something for everyone, so please review it and plug in right now.

When you find something you would like to do, please immediately contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Debby Verville at Debby@livewire.fm for orientation and further instructions, support, and information.

Got a good example of a job right here and a starting point.

Like to ID the shelters in Florida that are allowing pets. And would be great to know how the animal situation is after Wilma blows thru.

Here's a post I saw at Nola.com that has a contact # of a man that sounds knowledgeable of the current Florida situation and will be there on the ground.
Can anyone step up to start locating shelter names, locations, vacancy, etc.

Thank you

Please keep in mind that there are several rescue groups in South Florida. Please keeps us in your thoughts and prayers for a safe outcome. If you need to get in touch with me my cell phone is (954) 290-5202. Hopefully the towers will not go. I will post any news after the storm. We have animal shelters open for large animals and small pets here. Supplies may be needed after the storm. Thank all of you!

Florida Maps: They are going to need maps! Who has some ideas where to get many florida maps, especially south florida. Even outdated ones are helpful.

Tip: Very useful for maps to be covered w/ clear contact paper, front & back. Not only weatherproofs them but also makes them much more durable for longer use and easier to fold up or wade of in an emergency.

ANyone got a contact at Contact Paper? No pun intended!

To support Anne's benefit concert in Cincinnati, ohio scheduled for November 13, featuring band "the Recipe". Location negotiated, project rolling!

Help with negotiating band fees and terms.

Help with getting sponsors to help cover band fees and other costs.

from Anne:

My name is Anne and I am from Cincinnati,Ohio. For the past couple months I have been organizing a benefit to aid the animal relief efforts in New Orleans. The donations from this benefit will be going to the ARNO - the group that livewire supports so thoroughly. I am seeking a sponsor for this benefit who is willing to aid in the rental of a hall here in Cincinnati. I have been in contact with both Nico and Debra of livewire and also with Jane Garrison and Kate from ARNO. This benefit needs to happen soon! They are in desperate need of donations at ARNO. Please help make this benefit happen in any way that you can.
Thank you so much. Feel free to contact me at periwinkle_143@yahoo.com. May blessings be abundant. With love'n'light *anne* :)

Hello,

I could use a person(s) to help w/ occassional internet researching. This is something you can do from your home (in your pj's too) that would be a great help. Some will be short projects as well as some longer ones. Very flexible hours!! Will not cost you any monet either!

I, like my other fellow team members at Livewire.FM, am doing too many things at once, can get distracted & off course due to the ever changing situation in the gulf or merely overwhelmed. We are doing 10-15 hours, 7 days a week as volunteers.

Some examples below:

*Locate contact info for a particular person or group.

*Garnering donation of goods/services from businesses or individuals. I think garnering is a nice word for begging! Not one of my skills but I would like to learn too.

*Locating sources/suppliers for needed items.

*Write a few informational emails. I am not a great typist. I am a rusty, self taught typist.

*Writing assistance w/ my first 15 days in the Gulf Coast. It is a long story to try to tell anyone and I feel a bit drained when I finish telling it. Plus, I am afraid I will forget important details or events. Have many photos too.

*Develop a contact relationship w/ any identified person/organization. Any one good at making friends?

*Crossposting and monitoring other important websites so that we can join forces for the same cause or glean new info. You may be doing some of this already.

I believe my other team mates could use the same or similiar help.

Thank You for any assistance and time you can give!

Sincerely,
Pam aka Sparkie
