How you have your best invention ideas at night, just before you nod off, and you swear that in the morning you'll follow up on them.......

but the next morning they sound stupid?

When I wake up . . . I don't even remember them! That's the big problem for me.

Nah, I never think they sound dumb, although I do kick myself for the times I promised I would remember what it was and did not jot it down. I never remember the next day. I think remembering something right before falling asleep is impossible. :)

My mom keeps a notebook next to her bed so she can jot that sort of stuff down. Trust me, though, her ideas aren't any more clear the next morning!

I have good ideas at different times but, I am not skilled enough or smart enough to figure out hwo to make them come to fruition.

LOL. When i need to solve a problem i sleep on it and i usually have great clarity in the morning after a good rest. Ive even found things i was looking for if i think about it before bed. Its like a reboot for a human i always felt lol.:)

About the only thing that dawns on me when I'm getting ready for bed is that there's something I need to do downstairs. :) I get my best ideas in the shower. I always know I'll remember them when I'm done and dry and can do something about them but that hardly ever works out in practice.

Only thing I have is weird dreams XD
Last night it was about a group of nunes who were eagerly eating veggies with mayonaise x_x

Oh boy, this reminds me: I can't stand listening to people talk about their dreams. I mean, their real dreams - sure. But did you ever notice how your husband will have a dream about you and another man and it's always someone disgusting?

I almost never remember my dreams. It happens only very rarely. Although I will go through spurts where I might remember a few different dreams in a month, then not remember any dreams for 6 months.

My dreams... I remember almost all of them by midday(I know it sounds weird) but any night illuminating ideas do sound more or less irrelevant the next day and I often wonder how come I ever thought of that the previous night!!!

Are you really get your best ideas at night or, are you just so tired that they seem like good ideas at the time.

YES! yes to both! Actually, I have a problem following up on things, and these great life-changing inventions I get ideas for - really compete for all the rest of the things I have to do: like get kids off to school, laundry, writing, grocery shopping , etc.

I'm not a TYPE A personality - never have been, never will be.

I tend to think my good ideas in the middle of the night are definetly the result of sleepiness.

Well...just how stupid do they sound?

Stupid like you want to hydro-plane a skate board so you pretend you are in Back to the Future. Or stupid like you want to be on Jackass and get hit by a car to see how much it would hurt?

Count me too! I used to think about something great at night but in the morning, the idea really sounds stupid. Perhaps it’s because due to the drowsiness we are experiencing, we can’t think properly and so any idea that comes to our mind seems to be great although they aren’t.

I have those moments too. Like I would have things well calculated in my head and swear that I have uncovered something wonderful that would make the human lives be a lot better but in the morning I can just laugh at the idea.

Yeah, I've had the same experiences before. But it was more like, I can not explain how brilliant that idea came to be. At times I get frustrated by it, especially when the thing I was working on is really important. I remember reading this book on creativity telling me to jot down notes on ideas that I come up with, I did. But the problem was, I can not seem to make the ideas work as they are supposed to. I really hate that.

I totally agree! The writer of this thread is a genius! Don't we all get those silly dreams where we thought we have unlocked the greatest information yet? I had a dream like that once, I thought I discovered how to make people fly by creating a human wing!

I think about all type of things at night when I am trying to fall asleep. I think about what needs to be done, what new ideas I come up with for crafts and other nonsense things. However, I never write them down and I forget all about them in the morning cause I am usually only running on 4 hours of sleep from thinking about everything the night before.

I love it!! Yes, that happens to me all the time. In fact, I thought up Livewire while nodding!! I guess it didn't still seem stupid in the morning though, since here we are, at least partially running!

I also get inspired in the shower for some weird reason. Anyone else have that experience?

Who knows why we get these brilliant ideas while almost asleep, or in other situations?

Is it the whisper of your spirit guide motivating you to do something? I'm not sure.

I did notice that I usually get my great ideas in my sleep. Unfortunately, I rarely wake up in time to remember them and write them down! Figures.

oh, same here! that's usually the case for me that's why i make it a point to jot them on paper or record them in my cellphone.

I get some good ideas right before I drift off to sleep. Sometimes I jot them down (that doesn't mean I can actually READ what I wrote in the morning!) but more times than not, I just forget about them by morning.

I don't get ideas when I'm drifting off to sleep, though some parts of dreams have become parts of stories. I get good ideas mainly when babbling with my mom.
