I knew that O'Reilly was a jerk, but his new book, Culture Warrior, indicates that he is insane. As usual, he is on about "Traditionalists" (the good guys versus "Secular-Progressives" (the bad guys). OK, if secular-progressive is bad, then its opposite should be good, right? The opposite would be "Theocratic Stagnationist". Hmm, that doesn't sound so good either. Come to think of it, the Founding Fathers were secular progressives. The First Amendment clearly is in support of secularism. Whether they believed in God or not, they chose secular government. And if they weren't progressive, I don't know who is or were.
So Bill is indirectly dissing the Founding Fathers, all the while complaining that the "Far Left" (meaning to the left of Attila the Hun) "hates America".
Bill asks, Who do you think Osama Bin Laden supports in the American culture war: the traditionalists or the secular-progressives?
Think about what I am about to put forth: From his hideout somewhere in the Muslim world, Osama bin Laden and his cohorts have got to be cheering on the S-P [secular-progressive] movement…
O'Reilly presents no evidence, of course. There was that tape a few years ago where bin Laden made a threat about re-electing Bush. Right, and Brer Rabbit begged Brer Wolf not to throw him into the briar patch (which Brer Rabbit really wanted. Bu****es never heard of reverse psychology, I guess)
Bill:It is rooted in the one thing that the secular-progressive movement and Al Qaeda have in common: Both outfits believe that the United States of America is fundamentally a bad place.
…The bedrock belief that America is, and has been, an evil country is crucial to understanding the secular-progressive point of view when it comes to the war on terror.
Again, no evidence. Bill can't imagine that someone cannot hate Bush and love America. Or that one may hate Bush because they love America
Bill:All clear-thinking Americans should become opponents of the S-P [secular-progressive] movement for the simple reason of self-preservation.
Translation: "All white, alleged Christian males should become opponents of the S-P [secular-progressive] movement for the simple reason of maintaining their privileged status."
O’Reilly claims that bin Laden is out to get him. Yeah, I can see how O'Reilly is a threat to bin Laden. He has done such a good job of uniting Americans to fight terrorism sensibly.
Is he an idiot or a traitor. We'll let you decide :)
