This is a petition to Mayor Nagin to allow French Quarter residents to go back and look at their homes. They are saying we will not be allowed back until Oct. 7th to have a look and not allowed back permanently until Dec. 10th.

This is unacceptable!!! Please sign the petition and spread the word about it. Post the site at other locations.

What are the reasons listed why people will not be allowed back until then? Will it hamper rescue/relief efforts? Health concerns? I'm just curious about the logistics of this particular situation, Do you have a link to a specific article or web page about this other than the petition?

These kinds of questions and concerns are why we will be opening an "Eyes and Ears" forum, for reports from the ground.

We really need to start getting information from those who are in the thick of the situation, so we don't have to rely soley on the news media and government to help us get perspective.
