Way to go, Kim!
It would be great to save this group's information just for future reference. I think we need to be proactive AGAINST any groups that we discover to be less than honorable in their intentions and practices.
I just wrote to one such "foundation" that I did some research on and asked them for any reasons or information they could provide that would discourage me from blasting their information all over the internet and trying to find every possible legal way to make them wish they were never born.
The contents of your message have been removed because you are asking for money and in another post you claim to be with the "EMERGENCY DISASTER RELIEF COALTION"
I have saved the posting information and will be happy to put it back up if you give me the contact information for this coalition and I can verify your status with them and their role in disaster relief.

Before you drive all that way I would recommend that you get connected with one of the major organizations and let them know you are willing to go. Get organized with them prior to leaving, this will utilize your time and resources much more effectively. Here is some basic information to assist you in your endeavor:
If you want to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina but do not know where to begin, here is a short comprehensive list I have compiled to assist with your efforts. It is a place to start. Register with the appropriate organizations so that they know what equipment, resources, or manpower you have available and they can utilize the same in a more effective manner. Please feel free to redistribute this list!
Check my MSN Space frequently for updates to this list!
Please feel free to contact me if you need further information.
Thank you kindly and hugs to all!

Absolutely agreed!
I'm trying to figure out the point of people jumping in cars and driving into the disaster zones or shelter areas in towns where the services are already overburdened by sudden over-population.
If you don't have a definite destination, plan of action, and ample supplies to provide for yourselves, I think it's just adding to the chaos.
I also have HUGE concerns about all the sudden non-profits and not-for-profits that are being set up. It's nice to know that our donations can be tax deductible, but it's also necessary for each of us to get full disclosure details from these organizations so we know exactly where our money is going, for what, and to whom.
Running a charity can be a business just as well, in not even better than setting up a store and selling products. Salaries, rent, equipment and travel are all valid expenditures for any charitable group, so it's quite possible for someone to set up a non-profit and use all the donations to cover their own expenses.
Take care out there folks!
