On my way to the city yesterday, I came upon a horrible collision at an intersection on the highway. The crash had just happened so I got out to see if I could help. Car vs motorcycle. One of those who had also stopped had gloves and was holding the motorcycle rider in c-spine. I found a blanket to cover him up, he was in shock and in pretty bad condition, but alive none the less. The car had flipped and rolled several times and ended up on the roof. The motorcycle rider was being taken care of, so I went to the car where I found two women crying and holding up a jacket over the window. The lady in the car had passed away, she was wearing her seatbelt. Fire, police and ambulance showed up and took over everything and because I wasn't a witness to the actual crash, they let me leave after I told the fire chief what the deal was. :(

Just want to remind everyone to slow down, watch where you're going, watch for motorcylces especially because they are harder to see and wear your seatbelt.

How disturbing. I'm so sorry that you had to see that but it was so good of you to try to help. I always drive carefully. But thanks for the reminder, it's important for people to be mindful of what can happen.

How horrible for everyone involved. I always try and drive carefully but it seems more often than not you have to watch out for all those on the road who just don't care. :(

That's rough...to be there on scene, but that was nice of you to stop and help out.

There are so many accidents nowadays, it makes me want to never drive again (in my wildest dreams, of course).

I know what you mean about not wanting to drive again. I remind myself that it's probably not going to happen to me. I guess it's a matter of striking a happy medium between thinking I'm bullet proof and that the sky is falling. Realism and good sense are about the best you can do.

That's too bad that you had to see that. That's definately not something I would want to see in my day.

I am sorry to hear that. These things can be so difficult to deal with. I saw a man in front of me drive off the road and crash into a telephone pole. He burned to death in the truck. I couldnt' do anything to help and felt so awful about it. I wanted to pull him out but, couldn't. I can still see it clearly although it was many years ago. But, talking about it with people really helped me get over the guilt and horror. You will get through this in time. *hugs

How horrific! I hope you are okay. I know that after I was one of the first cars on a scene (before the police or ambulances arrived) of an accident, I saw some things that I just cannot get out of my head, even years later. :(

I am sorry that you had to see that. It will be forever in your thoughts. However, talking to people will make it better. A few years ago I saw this boys out joyriding in their parents car and they rear ended some lady then took off cause it scared them and they crashed around the corner into a tree. I remember helping one of the boys who was pretty banged up. I will never forget that. However, it does remind you how people drive and how you have to be careful driving.

Usually, car accidents involving motorcycles takes the life of the motorcyclist rather than the car driver. I guess in this scenario the female driver panicked and tried avoiding the motorcycle which she did but unfortunately, she lost her life. Let's all pray for her.

That's really an awful thing to witness, I just hope people would be extra careful in driving. Because in driving not only you are in danger but also the passengers, the pedestrian or other motorists. But lessons are learned the hard way. Sometimes lessons fall on deaf ears, I wish this time is not.

Oh boy... I feel for you and for those poor people and their families. I have seen a horrible accident (but not as up close as you - from several cars back) where a woman was ejected from her vehicle. I felt sick and freaked out for a week.

Peace to everyone involved. :(

Oh my gosh, that's awful.

How sad for the woman that was killed, and the women who were with her.

I lost my brother in a car accident, and have lost a few friends, too. I have also known, through my volunteer work, of many people who are paralyzed because of traffic accidents.

Sometimes death is a blessing.
