HI all,
I am willing to coordinate the project to get folks moved into more permanent housing. What I need are people to help with the following:
Needs:
> identify a contact with red cross to get folks placed
> get contact names and numbers of other orgs that are tackling this project
>legal council to assure we are not violating any laws in doing background checks
> legal reference on how to write up contracts between people that are moving in and the person making the offer.
a: I know for a fact that you can't remove people from your own home in less than ninty days if you rent to them...does the same apply here?
> how to do background checks without spending a fortune..that goes both ways we don't want our displaced people setting up house keeping with a lunatic who drives them and the kids nuts too.
> Ideas of what I haven't thought of
I am rkitson@nc.rr.com please offer ideas and support.
I figure it will take about 200 people nation wide to pull this off without taxing anyone too much. Please let me know where you are and what resources you bring to the table.
Thanks,
Robin (a native of the ninth ward of New Orleans living in NC since 1975)
