Please take careful note when volunteering or donating to a group.
We're suddenly seeing political activist groups, "non profits" and "not for profits" springing up seeking volunteers and donations.
All CASH needs to go to the Red Cross,or any of the known organizations which uses the money for direct aid.
Volunteers do not need to get paid!! If a site is asking for donations, pass them by. Non-profit, and "Not-for-profit" are tax exempt designations. If a group has registered themselves as such, that means they are planning on having an income. They can pay themselves and make purchases from your donations tax free. This disaster is not a business opportunity, friends! Don't support those people, please!
Political action groups are also setting up projects. Take care when you volunteer that you are not allying yourself with political agendas and getting yourselves into the data bases for future political fund raising and organizing unless you WANT to.
I'm seeing posts from partisan political groups claiming to be the ONLY organization providing services. This is nonsense. There is no ONLY SOURCE of help.
We need countless sources of help.
