Steven Spielberg will join Zhang Yimou in the designing the opening and closing ceremonies. I am not familiar with filmmaker Zhang Yimou but I LOVE Spielbergs works. This should be really good!

Wow, has Spielberg ever had a hand in an Olympic Ceremony before?
Thats really huge stuff, considering the guy normally only makes multi billion dollar movies, he must be being paid a fair sum of cash for this :D

I was thinking the same thing. I would really like to know the cash this must be reeling in. But I bet it will be awesome to watch!

I don't know it seems that anything Speilburg touches turns to gold so I'm sure it'll be great. That guy is a genius to me and I can't wait to see what it's all going to be about.

I agree everything he touches turns to gold, if he helps out you can only imagine the theatrics involved. I saw how beautiful the last olympics were and I'm sure Spielberg did too. Now you know he'll want to top that... I wonder if anyone will be able to top Spielberg.

I have to admit that I never watch the opening and closing Olympic ceremonies.
I respect the time and effort that goes into them, but I do find them boring!

Does anyone else feel this way?

It's funny ...I usally try but I get so bored with the pomp and circumstance that I switch over to something else. It's like Super Bowl half time ...I just don't into it at all.

It's all so big, so huge, so over the top ...I like watching the atheletes file in and beyond that ...I'm gone to CSI or something lol.

I actually like watching ceremonies, what the host country is presenting. Sometimes they get too long for comfort, but they are nice anyway. So Spielberg is getting involved... this is some special Olympics. :) I can't wait to see it.

I can't wait to see the ceremonies and the games in general. We are seriously considering going to the 2012 in London. Can't wait to see what Spielberg has up his sleeve.

I'm another one who always tries to watch and gives up. And I feel the same way about half time at the Super Bowl, too. I wonder if it's because I can't get into these sorts of things on the small screen, like with fireworks. Maybe this means I must get one of those gigantic HD televions!

I'm glad to see that Beijing got the Olympics and the preparations have more or less gone without a hitch. They went through a lot of trouble cleaning up their human rights record and planting trees and building stadiums. It's only unfortunate that way before the Olympics, Chinese "entrepreneurs" have already released bootlegs of the original merchandise.
