"Pilot - Parts I & 2"
It's a special two-hour broadcast of the pilot that started it all. After Oceanic Flight 815 crash lands, the 48 survivors find themselves on an island of harsh terrain, cruel weather and dark secrets, including a frightful creature that stalks the jungle. Strangers all, even those related by blood, the survivors' pasts - their ethics, religions, politics and attitudes - threaten to jeopardize the group's ability to endure.

Ok, I'll bite the bullet here. I watched half of the pilot, and had a very hard time getting into it. I will watch the second half and see if I can catch the drift. A gazillion fanatical fans can't be all wrong! :kitty:
Maybe my problem is that I'm hooked on Brit TV, which I watch almost exclusively, other than news programming, and of course Seinfeld, which IMO is a cultural necessity! :dork:
While watching Lost I was thinking of my media habits, and how I'm really not used to the energy and flow of American programming. Brit programming has it's own tempo, and Lost is really very different from what I'm used to. I just finished watching a production of Dickens' Bleak House (surprisingly starring Gillian Anderson, btw) which was so elegant and profound, it could be a problem of contrast. Lost is definitely jarring to the senses in a very overt way, where Dickens is so much more subdued in its sensual tantilizations.
But I will say this, I found a few of the characters to be very interesting, and the whole situation reminded me so much of Lord of the Flies, which was also never a favorite of mine from an enjoyment standpoint, even though I certainly appreciate the psychological significance of it, and I'm glad I bothered to read it.
So, I'll watch the second half and get back to you. It could very well be that it's one of those shows that grows on you. As I'm writing about it, I'm thinking of all that was going on, and I guess I do want to see where it's headed.
Not to mention that I know there's nothing more fun than sharing a TV show obsession with friends! So give me a little time with this one, please!

I guess I'd better not tell you how many gazzillion British fans Lost has then.
:D
It's one of only a few programs that I watch. TV is just not top on my priorities

Oh, I'm well aware! My Brit friends love American TV far more than they do their own in most cases. I share with them an addiction to a few though!
Don't give up on me, I'm keeping an open mind. I'm sure that whatever fascinates you is worthwhile!
