I'm new here so I'm not real sure where this should be posted so if it's in the wrong place forgive me please. The Martha Moxley Case has always been the one case I was so happy to see justice delayed but not denied. To see that money and power could not buy justice this time was a breath of fresh air. I followed this case when it was on CTV as much as I could. I was a bit worried about this statue of limitations on appeal but that was put to rest today. Martha's Mother never wavered in her pursuit of justice for her daughter. (Kudos' to Dorothy).http://www.marthamoxley.com/ At Martha's Web site there's a picture of Michael Skakel with his face looking like what the Prosecutor called a spoiled brat and if a picture speaks a 1000 words that one does. I guess some Friday the 13th can also be a good luck day for sum and than for other's. Well I'll just leave it at that.

Oh my, he does look like a petulant six year old doesn't he?!
I tried to follow this case on CTV, but with working it's difficult. I think Mark Fuhrman deserves kudos as well, because without his book this case would never have been brought to trial. I am so happy that justice was finally served, and Michael Skakel is behind bars where he belongs.

Hi Tresi and nandee! Yes by all means kudos to Mark he went up there and took none of the high faluting snobish ways and got to the truth. Dorothy just loves him to death and say's he's the best det. in the world. I think shes got something there. They tried to decredit him in OJ but most of us knew what Baily was doing. Thanks for the nice replys lady's :)

My heart goes out to her. I just can't imagine what it must have been like for her all these years. I realize it must be small solace for her, but hopefully she can rest a bit easier knowing he's in jail.

I'm not real sure how soon it was after Martha was Murdered but her father passed away too. I know i read it somewhere that it was due to the death of Martha and, all the stress it put on the family. I read here that your a mother and I have 3 kids and I know it would be pure hell to say the least. That's why I have the respect I do for Dorothy she stayed strong for Martha. She has her son as well, and thru the years they have keep each other going and staying strong. God Bless Them both

Thanks OS for posting this story.I think it gives others hope that kharma may be a bit slow but when she comes she mighty.
Tersi, there is a school of thought( no OS we ain't talking about ya), that suggest that the justice process or courts or jail time really do nothing for healing.I DISAGREE! I FEEL BETTER ALREADY and that is nothing compared to this family!

I don't think justice helps you heal faster, but justice denied adds additional rage and emotional pain to try and overcome. By receiving some measure of justice you have the satisfaction of knowing they didn't get by with it, but it doesn't lessen healing from your loss. Anyway...that's just how I feel...

I would not think it heals FASTER but the validation and public record does do something for some.Others do not the process to move on.Others become quite traumatized by the process and do NOT move on.Each to their own really. I do not think courts heal anything at all, I think the symbolism of justice being done IS what contributes to the healing process.
Women do not use courts as a general rule rape being one of the most undereported crimes yet thousands of women move on each year without the courts.
It is not neccessary for healing nor is it the only way to heal but it CAN be a tool for immense healing when done in a respectful and sensitive manner. We know both are really seen in a court for victims thus the revictimization of same person by the court process.
There is enough documentation that does support that not all but enough feel taking their perps to court and convictions result has been instrumental for their moving on to healing.
Others who go through such an ordeal with no favourable outcome are worse off as you say justice denied.....
The concept of what justice means to each of us is where the power or lack of power to heal comes from....validation through justice IS healing...

Ditto! I'm sure the survivors will always have heart ache, that goes without saying. But to know who was responsible or have a real good idea, and they are from money and power they get to live by a different set of rules. It's like saying your childs life is less important than there's. The William Kennedy Smith Trial was what worried me about this case. I'm sure he did the deed and got away with it. The list goes on in that family about there set of rules and than the rules the rest of us live by.

I quite agree OS. Ye olde nobility vs the commoners scenario still lives in our society. At least the ferver over them that propelled them to virtual royal status has lessened in most parts of the country.
